Most of the schools with zero pass percentage had less than 100 students appear
for the SSC Exam
Around 127 schools which had a success rate of 0% in the
Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination this year might lose their recognition.
The school education department is planning to come heavily down on schools from
which not a single student managed to clear the board exam.
Simultaneously, the department will also try to help 1,752 schools in the state
which had a success rate of less than 30%.
School education minister Rajendra Darda said, if these schools couldn't help a
single student clear the examination, then why should the state government not take
away their recognition we are planning to derecognize such schools.
Most of the schools with zero pass percentage had less than 100 students appear
for the SSC exam.
Schools with below 30% results need improvement. The teachers will have to undergo
training programmes to ensure better results next time. Additionally, we are trying
to collaborate with non-government organizations (NGOs) to improve the results of
these schools, added Darda.
An education department official said local education officers will inspect schools
with zero pass percentage before deciding on the derecognition order.
For schools with under 30% results, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and
Higher Secondary Education will conduct remedial training programmes.
These training programmes are intensive and ensure that the schools perform better
in the future. The measures taken by the education department will also be carried
out once there is an official communication, said a senior board official.
There are around 127 schools in the state with 0% results. Of these, 21
are from the Mumbai divisional board office.
