St Xavier’s College is all set to travel to London. The St.
Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA) is about to open its UK
chapter in London. It will be formally launched on October 22 at a special ceremony
at the Quilon Restaurant, near Buckingham Gate in London. J. Felix Raj, president
of SXCCAA and principal of the college, who is currently touring Europe, USA and
Canada to expand students’ and faculty exchange programs of the college with different
foreign universities, will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
Renowned industrialist L. N. Mittal, an alumnus of St. Xavier’s, Kolkata, will be
the chief guest. More than 100 Xaverians from different parts of the UK have already
registered to be present on the occasion. It is likely that Father Raj along with
other functionaries will have a special meeting with Mittal regarding the development
projects of the college.
SXCCAA is also going to launch its USA chapter at Las Vegus in July next
year and thereafter in the pipeline is the Bangladesh chapter, also to be launched
in 2012. With the launching of the UK chapter, SXCCAA will have four overseas chapters;
the other three being at Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai.
