Admission process for Autonomous and Non-Autonomous Colleges
Nagpur: Even as there is a drop in number of candidates clearing
MHT-CET, in both medical and engineering streams, admissions would be tougher in
the former while there will be no problems in getting an engineering seat.
Medical counseling from July first week:
Directorate of medical Education and Research (DMER) officials said the counseling
for medical admissions would probably begin from first week of July. The process
will begin with filling up preference form at four centres across state - Grant
Medical College in Mumbai, BJ Medical College in Pune, and Government Medical Colleges
in Nagpur and Aurangabad. A notification to this effect would be issued on the DMER
website soon.
For Nagpur division, comprising six districts of Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur,
Gadchiroli and Nagpur, the preference forms are likely to be available at Government
Medical College, Hanuman Nagar; Indira Gandhi Medical College, Central Avenue, and
Govt Dental College, GMC campus.
For Amravati division, comprising five districts of Yavatmal, Akola, Washim, Buldhana
and Amravati, the preference forms are likely to be available at Vasantrao Naik
Medical College, Yavatmal; Bhausaheb Deshmukh Memorial College, Amravati; Government
Medical College, Akola, and Panchasheel Homeopathic College, Buldhana.
Engineering counseling from July first week:
The Department of Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai, will start its admission process
for first year engineering from June 21 or 22 with sale of applications forms at
designated application receipt centres (ARCs) or on DTE website, said joint director
for the Nagpur division R.S. Naidu.
Students can fill up application forms on the website. They have to fill up percentage
obtained in class X and XII along with score of MHT-CET and AIEEE if appeared. They'll then receive an application
ID and password.
The next step is submitting of photocopies of class X and XII results along with
score sheet of MHT-CET and AIEEE at any of the ARCs, which will remain open even
on holiday between 11am to 5pm. After scrutiny of originals, candidates have to
fill up personal information in the form. Finally, candidates will receive acknowledgement-cum-receipt
duly signed by DTE officials. The DTE will first release provisional merit list
followed by final merit list and seats distribution on its website.
Going by the DTE schedule, engineering colleges would start before September. According
to officials, the brochure containing information of colleges and number of seats
would be released after July first week, after confirmation of new engineering colleges.
Many new colleges are scheduled to open after AICTE approval.
The number of ARCs will also go up this year since many private colleges have shown
an inclination to become ARC.
The counseling for pharma courses is likely to start from July 5 while those for
veterinary courses would be notified by Maharashtra Fisheries and Animal Husbandry
University (MAFSU).
