UPSE Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam Details
UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam - Overview:
Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) Entrance Exam
is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) board, for about 10 seats.
The selected candidates undergo a four-year rigorous training programme in Mechanical
Engineering, for which the institute has a Memorandum of Understanding with BIT,
Mesra, Ranchi.
Eligibility for UPSC Railway Apprentice Exam:
- Nationality: A candidate must be
either
- A citizen of India, or
- A citizen of Nepal, or
- A citizen of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention
of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East
African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi,
Zaire, Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Provided that candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall
be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the
Government of India.
- Age requirement: 17-21 years as on 1st August
- Educational Qualification:
Candidates with Intermediate with Mathematics and at least
one subject as Physics or Chemistry are eligible for SCRA entrance exam 2012.
How to Apply for SCRA Exam?
- Candidates can apply for UPSC SCRA Exam 2012 online
using the link
www.upsconline.nic.in. Details for filling up the online form are given
on the website. Fee for online application is Rs. 25
- Candidates can also apply for the SCRA Exam offline by purchasing the common application
form from the designated Head post Offices/Post Offices specified in the Commission’s
Notice.
- The application form for SCRA 2012 entrance exam along with an information brochure
containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgement card
and an envelope for sending the application is obtainable from the designated Head
Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country specified in the Commission’s Notice
against cash payment of Rs. 50. For Girls/ SC/ ST/ PH - No Fee.
- The candidates should also fill up in the relevant places of the Acknowledgement
Card, their Application Form Number (8-digit) and the name of the examination.
- The applicants are required to affix the postage stamp of Rs. 6/- on the Acknowledgement
Card and send the same along with application form to UPSC.
- Candidates should also write the name of examination – ‘Special Class Railway Apprentices'
Examination’ & year in which examination is held on the envelope before dispatching
it to ‘Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, New Delhi - 110069’.

Exam Pattern
Exam Pattern / Syllabus:
The SCRA Entrance Examination 2012 will be conducted according
to the following plan:
- Part I: Written SCRA entrance test carrying a
maximum of 600 marks with the subjects shown below.
- Part II: Personality Test carrying a maximum of 200 marks in respect of only those
candidates who are declared qualified on the results of written examination.
