The First Two Rank Holders Hailing From Seemandhra Take Admission in OMC
The ongoing turbulence in Telangana region seems not to have
deterred the Eamcet toppers in medicine stream to take admission in Osmania Medical
College (OMC). Admissions to the medical colleges began all over the state on Tuesday
19th July through the online system.
The first two rank holders hailing from Andhra region took admission in OMC. There
is nothing to fear about the ongoing disturbance in Hyderabad or Telangana region.
Once we become doctors, we have to serve all the people irrespective of caste, creed,
region and nation. OMC has the best faculty among all the colleges and I have decided
to join the college, said topper Himaja.
Vice-chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences I V Rao and registrar T Venugopala
Rao handed over the admission cards to the first two rank holders to formally mark
the opening of the counseling session on the university campus here on Tuesday,
19th July 2011.
There were apprehensions among academicians and experts whether the students from
Seemandhra region would take admission in Telangana colleges in the wake of the
unrest in the region."We were wondering whether the prevailing tension in the T-region
could force the toppers to ignore good colleges like OMC. But it's heartening that
the students had decided to go ahead with their preferences”, a senior faculty of
the NTR university said.
While those in the rank list were allowed to take part in the online counseling
session from any of the four centres Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Vijayawada,
the toppers attended the counseling at the NTR Health University here. Second ranked
Nusum Uma maheswari of Darsi in Prakasam district also chose to join OMC citing
good teaching facilities.
