TET is being held for teachers in class VI-VIII
The education department has issued an advertisement, allowing
students who have graduated in social studies (SS), to appear in the teacher's eligibility
test (TET). The students were earlier not eligible for the TET prompting the candidates
to challenge their omission.
The department, however, said that students who have pursued sociology, psychology
and political science will not be allowed to take the TET. The TET is being held
for teachers in class VI-VIII.
This has led to resentment among students pursuing these subjects at graduation
and post-graduation levels and they have made a representation to the education
department. The students claimed that psychology and sociology subjects are crucial
for better teaching and it would be unfair if these graduates are barred from taking
the TET.
