Fee Structure for Undergraduate Engineering Courses has not yet been Resolved
A day after the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2011 results were
announced, the row over fee structure for undergraduate engineering courses has
not yet been resolved. Higher education minister VS Acharya had on Monday
said that the issue would be settled by within 24 hours. But on Tuesday, Acharya
was busy meeting officials from the higher education council among other engagements.
No meeting with private professional college managements was in his schedule. Meanwhile,
anxious students who have got their CET rankings and are planning to join engineering
courses, have started calling up the Karnataka Examinations
Authority (KEA) office and enquiring about the fee structure.
"We are getting calls from students who are asking us about engineering fees. But
even we have not been informed about anything. So we are asking them to wait for
some time and keep visiting KEA website," said an official of KEA. However, the
Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering College Association
(KUPECA) which was supposed to have a general body meeting on Tuesday
did not have the meeting.
"Some of our members said they cannot make it to the meeting on Tuesday' so we postponed
it," said a senior member of KUPECA.
