Over 8,000 schools have been asked to put up details on the GSEB website
Information about over 8,000 schools in the state will now
be available at the click of a mouse on the Gujarat State Education Board (GSEB)
website, after schools have registered themselves online.
The state government had, on June 27, decided that schools will now have to key
in all vital information with regard to their school on the website.
"All schools have been sent letters of intimation with respect to this new decision.
This information will be made available on the GSEB website and will be useful for
people. The move will also benefit the board in finding out details without the
need to call up the school and wait to receive the information," district education
officer of Ahmadabad city, R. I. Patel, said.
Information such as number of seats, staff, teaching faculty, current student capacity,
area of the school, names and number of members in the school trust, number of classrooms,
number of computers in the school, number of teachers per subject, and the like,
will be available on the website.
The last date for schools to complete this task is July 11 following which they
will not be allowed to make entries. Once completed, the information will be put
up on the homepage of the GSEB under the link 'School Registration', Patel said.
"We had also provided training to schools for the task on June 27 through Bhaskaracharya
Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG)," he added.
The GSEB board meeting on Thursday 30th June also decided that if a school
is found to be providing bogus information online, its recognition will be cancelled
and a police case will be filed against the school. In addition, the DEOs will carry
out spot inspections at online registered schools to crosscheck their information
and verify certificates.
