Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams are scheduled to begin on February 21,
2012, and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams will start on March 1, 2012.
Students are hardly a month into the academic year and the
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has
already declared the timetables for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher
School Certificate (HSC) examinations. The HSC exams are scheduled to begin on February
21, 2012, and SSC exams will start on March 1, 2012.
The board has taken to declaring the exam timetable at the start of the year itself
on its official website so that students get sufficient time to plan their studies
and prepare for the exams.

The board is hoping this will reduce growing stress levels among students. School
education minister Rajendra Darda had announced in January that the exam dates will
be declared on the first day of school itself. R. R. Bhise, secretary of the Mumbai
divisional board, said that the early announcement of exam schedules will help students
plan their studies better as well as allow schools to complete the curriculum in
a time-bound and scientific fashion. He added that the initiative will also help
parents plan vacations in advance. "This timetable is final but we will send it
to colleges only in December. Students should double-check the timetable with the
college for any last minute changes," Bhise said.
