2, 312 Students Seek Benefit Under Scheme
The Std XI centralised admission process (CAP) committee
released on Monday August 1, the provisional list of seat allotment under the state
governments allowed to keep term (ATKT) scheme for Std X students. The scheme is
for students who have failed in not more than two out of the total six subjects
in the state board's March 2011 exam.
A total of 2,312 candidates have sought benefit under the scheme, which was introduced
last year as part of the boards effort to reduce exam stress on students and give
them a fair chance to continue with their junior college studies, with a rider that
they will clear the remaining two Std X subjects in the boards supplementary exam.
For students seeking admission to Std XI science stream, it is mandatory to clear
mathematics and science subjects in the Std X exams with minimum 40% marks, considering
that science studies require practical lab work. There are no such conditions for
students seeking admission to the commerce and arts stream under the ATKT scheme.
The provisional list was released at 2 pm at five colleges, viz. Fergusson college
which is the main coordinating centre for Std XI CAP Sir Parsurambhau (SP), Nowrosjee
Wadia, and Aabasaheb Garware colleges in Pune, and the Mhalsakant Mahavidyalaya
in Akurdi for students hailing from the Pimpri Chinchwad township.
The list has also been posted on two websites:
www.dydepune.com
and www.punenet.net.
In a release issued here, Std XI CAP chief and deputy director (education) Sunil
Magar stated, the process for redressal of grievances, corrections or objections,
if any, relating to the provisional list will be conducted till 3 pm on August 3
and the final merit list will be released at 11. 30 am on August 4 at the same five
colleges where the provisional list has been released.
A total of 160 junior colleges from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have participated
in this years Std XI CAP. On July 25, the panel had declared the first list of seat
allotment for regular admission seekers, effecting 46,545 allotments. The first
and second wait lists for regular admissions were released on July 28 and July 30, while
confirmation of admission was done till July 31, paving the way for the ATKT admission
process.
Meanwhile, the principals of all the 160 junior colleges will meet at the Fegusson
college amphi theatre at 11 am on August 3 to take a review of stream wise vacant
seats. The vacancy position will be critical to the process of admitting all those
eligible Std X pass students who were unable to take part in the CAP due to varied
reasons. This process will be carried out from August 4 to 6, while the Std XI classes
at all junior colleges are to commence from August 8.
