The ambitious Vidyarthi Abhiyan programme of the Pune police
kicked off in the city on Monday 25th July with 40 city colleges evincing interest
in participation.
In a meeting held at the Pune police commissioner's office on Monday 25th July,
principals and faculty members from 40 colleges from the law, management, engineering,
social studies and medicine fields were present for the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner of police (special branch), Makarand Ranade, told media persons
that a total of six areas have been identified where college students would be offered
research based internship programmes with the police.
The six areas in which the police are seeking research assistance from
students and academics are: traffic problems of the city, information on judgments
made by the high court and Supreme Court of India, involvement in the police student
internship programme, research on the health and diet of police personnel and on
the daily working of the police force.
