More placements in 2012 for Management students in India and Abroad
Most companies in India have come up with good placement
opportunities even in a difficult economic environment. Recruiters from
the finance, banking and consulting sectors are hiring large number of talents and
they are offering an increase of up to 100 percent in stipends over the previous
year, reports Mahima Puri from the Economic Times.
Indian Institute of Management [IIM’s] commenced its summer placements, while others
had wrapped up early this year. Usually, at all the IIMs, the summer placements
begin in the month of November, but some IIM’s started the process in October this
year. The reason for some IIM’s to start the process in October was that to get
good results. Ashish Sadh, Chairman of placements, told that the summer placements
this year were better not only in terms of the rate at which the candidates have
been placed, but also there were some good quality of offers to the candidates.
This year saw some new recruiters from new sectors of digital marketing, online
education, modern retail, e-commerce; offering excellent profiles.
IIM Indore has told that this year large number of candidates are been recruited
by the finance and e-commerce sectors. IIM Indore has already placed more than 320
candidates, in its total batch of 450. Bank of America and Amazon were among the
new summer recruiters this year and most companies in the banking and financial
sectors have increased their stipends this year when compared to their campus visit
previous year. Ashish also told that the percentage increased by some of the firms
is as high as 66.7% to 100%. These firms also include all the major banks which
are domestic as well as international. But the details of the stipends were not
revealed as it has been kept confidential. IIM Bangalore has received Seventy one
pre placement offers and it has conducted Thirty Seven interviews for the batch
of 2012.
PD Jose, Chairperson, Career Development Services told that the conversion rate
for consulting firms was in excess of ninety percent this year, as there was a large
number of interns being offered permanent positions. At the same time he said that
they are also witnessing a strong demand for summer internship placements, and the
pre-placement talks are in full swing.
