Unwelcome news for all the girls who cover-up their face with layers of scarves
and duppatas to keep from sun-burning
Girls at Punjab Agricultural University received a shock
on Friday (2nd Sep) morning when they were flagged down by security guards and asked
to uncover their faces.
A student said, "I was really shocked when a guard stopped me near the library.
I had a duppata covering my face and he asked me to remove it. When I asked him
for a reason, the guard told me that these are the orders of higher officials."
An unwelcome news for all the girls who cover-up their face with layers of scarves
and duppatas to keep from sun-burning.
Another student said, "This order sounds funny, most of us own two-wheelers and
to keep sun, dust and pollution away we need to cover ourselves. Even medical experts
these days advise to keep faces covered while out in the sun."
The Security Officer of PAU, R. S. Grewal said, "We had to take this decision to
ensure that unwanted elements do not enter the campus. With their faces covered
it is difficult to make out whether the person on the scooter is a male or a female.
The students can wear dark glasses but they need to keep their faces uncovered."
