Forget the "dabbawallas" of Mumbai; the real heroes are the
newspaper delivery boys in Bangalore. The graduating class of Gupta College of Management
and Technology’s international dual-degree programme conducted a study on the newspaper
delivery boys to understand the concept behind the supply-chain management model.
The study underlines the imperative role the delivery boys play as the bridge between
the newspaper agents and the readers. Marking the occasion, the institute also honoured
the delivery boys. "Hard work is the principle we follow. We earn close to
2,000
a month, which really helps us to meet some extra demands," said Abhilash V, a newspaper
delivery boy who attended the function but also works for an MNC.
The first batch of Gupta College of Management and Technology’s international dual-degree
programme graduated recently. The dual-MBA degrees, conferred by Gupta College and
International American University (IAU), feature curriculum designed by both institutions,
said B. S. Gupta, the founder of the institute. "We are affiliated to both the Bangalore
University and the IAU. We, however, have Indian faculty teaching both courses but
the evaluation is completely different. The IAU course is based on continuous evaluation."
Ryan Doan, executive director of International American University, echoed
Gupta’s sentiments and added that IAU offers another dual-degree programme with
Excel College of Higher Education, Mumbai. We are looking at revamping our structure
and planning to make our curriculum more advanced.
