R.E.C Rourkela was the first one to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for the candidates of the state quota of Orissa in 1979. In 1979 there were only two engineering colleges in Orissa namely R.E.C Rourkela and U.C.E., Burla. In later years CET Bhubaneswar, IGIT Sarang and Institute of Textile Technology, Choudwar also got involved by 1994, JEE covered candidates for MBBS/ BDS courses in S.C.B Medical College, Cuttack, M.K.C.G. Medical College, Berhampur and V.S.S Medical College, Burla. Now at present lots of institutes/ colleges that offer courses in various disciplines including Engineering, Technology, Architecture, MBBS/ BDS, Pharmacy, MBA, MCA and Hotel Management & Catering Technology has joined the selection process via JEE for the state of Orissa.
Orissa holds their entrance exam in May month. JEE Entrance Exam pattern consists of General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude test and test on English. This entrance exam has the negative marking system. For each correct answer you will be rewarded with four marks and for one incorrect answer one mark will be deducted.
