Finally announced a notification confirming lowering of the eligibility criteria
(45% marks in HSC) for engineering and pharmacy admissions
The provisional merit list for engineering and pharmacy admissions
was out on Tuesday 5th July evening, giving relief to lakhs of applicants.
However the final merit list will be displayed on July 11, only after newly eligible
candidates are done with their applications.
Following the state government's approval, the Directorate of Technical Education
(DTE) on Tuesday 5th July, finally announced a notification confirming lowering
of the eligibility criteria (45% marks in HSC) for engineering and pharmacy admissions.
Three additional days have been allotted for newly eligible students to apply for
admissions.
With the eligibility criteria lowered to 45% marks for the generally category and
40% marks in the reserved category of HSC, there will be many more students who
will get an opportunity to study engineering or pharmacy. However city experts have
opined that though it will not affect the standards of the technical education since
it is a long four-year arduous process, it will surely hamper first year exam results.
