Students can fill Junior College Option forms From 22nd June 2011
Class X students can start filling the option form online
from Wednesday, 22nd June 2011. Several students have already filled
part one of the form, which has personal details. Students have to list a minimum
35 colleges in their option form.
The option form is divided into three parts. Starting with the Mumbai metropolitan
region (MMR), where students have to fill minimum of 15 colleges, they then have
to fill in names of preferred colleges in their zones (minimum 15) and lastly they
have to fill a minimum of five colleges in their wards.
Students cannot repeat names of colleges in any part. According to an education
department official, students should be very careful in filling up the option form
and should check last year’s cut-off of those colleges beforehand. Students should
not go for colleges with higher cut-offs if they have scored less, added the official.
The computer will consider the colleges in serial order of options filled, he added.
Even though the deputy director’s office is trying its level best to have a glitch-free
online admission system this season, students and parents are encountering problems.
A parent of a student from Vasai said, there are only two colleges in my ward. So
it is not possible for me to fill a minimum of five colleges. What if the computer
disqualifies me.
however, the official clarified that if there are fewer colleges in the ward than
the minimum requirement, the computer will accept the form. If the ward or zones
have colleges which students have not mentioned in the list, the computer will prompt
the student to fill in more names. If there are fewer colleges in the list, students
should ensure they fill in all available options.
