A senior official from the office of the deputy director of school education said
colleges can start distributing forms from August 12.
Even as the online admission process for junior college came
to an end on Wednesday 10th July, city colleges plan to complete the offline process
by the end of this week. The good news for students who are applying
offline is that many colleges in the city still have vacant seats. A number of colleges
have already started giving away forms for the offline admissions and are surprised
to get requests from 90% scorers.
In Jai Hind College, Church gate, there are more than 100 seats available in science
and commerce and around 50 in arts stream. The principal, Kirti Narain, says he’s
clueless as to how the science cut-offs in his college dropped drastically in the
third general merit list. We have already started distributing forms for the offline
process. We will start the allocation process once we get a circular from the school
education department. I am surprised to see even 90% scores approaching us with
admission requests as they have not managed to get a seat of their choice. The online
process has been chaotic this year, said Narain.
A senior official from the office of the deputy director of school education said
colleges can start distributing forms from August 12. If a college can put up the
merit list on the same day, it can do so. The department will have no say in the
process now, said the official. Colleges can upload the number of vacant seats by
11.00 am on Thursday. Once the vacancies in colleges are uploaded on the website,
students can approach them for the offline process.
