Colleges have recorded under-admissions in some of the coveted courses, raising
hopes for students of the general category to once again look at DU for admission
Delhi University (DU) colleges have finally wrapped up the
admission process for OBC candidates. However, despite the issuance of
a seventh cut-off list, most colleges have recorded under-admissions in some of
the coveted courses, raising hopes for students of the general category to once
again look at DU for admission into a course of their choice.
Following the closure of admissions for OBC candidates, colleges will now assess
the number of unoccupied seats in various courses. These seats maybe converted into
general category seats with fresh cut-offs. "Some of the better courses such as
English, Sociology and Statistics have recorded under-admissions by about three
seats per course, despite a drop in cut-off by 10% for this category. Irrespective
of the drop, we have realised that the cut-off maintained is still high for OBC
students. Hence, these seats have been unoccupied. We do not know yet what the university
will do with the seats that are unoccupied. If no order comes in, we will convert
them to general category seats," said Anju Srivastava, media coordinator, Hindu
college. Some of the off-campus colleges have also recorded lower admissions in
OBC category.
