This decision will also lead to save parents and board money and also ensuring that
students to attend school till April instead of Dec.
A day after the 70:30 system of marking SSC student's from
2013 was given clearance, five board members have made a representation to the Gujarat
Secondary and Higher Secondary Board (GSHSEB) officials on Tuesday 31st, 2012 saying
that schools should be handed over the responsibility of conducting class 10th board
exams. Members said, that “after the school comprehensive evaluation
was introduced in class 9th and following the latest change, it is best that the
board does not conduct the exams at all”.
Importance of SSC board exam has reduced as only one lakh students take admission
in technical courses post SSC. The technical board can conduct the entrance exams
for these students. Once the board does not take the SSC exam, it will take away
huge burden off the students as well as result in saving money for the board, the
members have submitted. The members also said “the decision will also lead to parents
saving up on tuition money and also ensuring that students attend school till April
instead of December when most students embark on a self-imposed study leave to prepare
for the exams. The representation will be made in the forth coming general meeting
of the board”, officials said.
