The Barkatullah University administration is likely to discontinue its B.Ed course
from this year owing to the poor financial condition of the self-financed department.
According to university insiders, Vice-Chancellor may officially
put his stamp on the orders to discontinue the course after the high level meeting
scheduled to take place of 15 July.
The B.Ed course, which was being run under the self financing scheme of the university,
had been facing numerous problems due to the weak financial condition. The university
charges Rs. 25,000 for the course.
Earlier, the National Council of Technical Education (NCTE) had issued a notice
directing the Barkatullah University administration to develop proper infrastructure
and arrange required number of staff for the course.
The university, in its reply to the NCTE’s notice, had assured the council of all
necessary action.
However, the university administration, in its initial survey, found that the cost
of continuing the course was way above the allocated fund.
