NIT MCA Common Entrance Test Details
NIMCET MCA Exam - Overview
National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are Institutes of National Importance and
are Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. The NIMCET that is
NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs
for admission in to their MCA programme.
The Curriculum and Syllabus of Master of Computer Applications
(MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering the needs of
different Information Technology Firms in India and abroad. MCA graduates have high
potential for jobs in IT Sector.

Eligibility Criteria:
An Indian National securing 60% marks aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10
CGPA for SC, ST category) in
- 12th (i.e. 10 + 2) level or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects at
either 10+1 or 10+2 level or at both the levels.
and
- Qualifying Degree - Bachelor’s Degree of Full time 3 year or more duration from
a recognized University with at least one of the following as a chosen subject of
study:
Mathematics, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Discrete Mathematics,
Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Elementary
Mathematics, Elementary Statistics are eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012.
How to apply: on-line application form?
Please read the following instructions very carefully before you fill-in on-line
application form:
- Before you start filling-in the on-line application form,
Scan
- your recent passport size photograph (alternatively, get a digital passport size
photograph) and
- your signature and keep these ready for uploading.
- Further, you should keep ready the demand draft (DD) drawn in favour of “NIMCET-2012”
payable at Warangal to fill the DD details in the space provided for, in the online
application form.
- Use a Java script enabled browser (Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, or Mozilla Firefox
3.0 or above).
- Type the URL: nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in on your browser to get home page of NIMCET-2012.
- “New User” will be disabled after 2nd April, 2012 and no one will be permitted create
online login thereafter.
- The fields marked with red star are mandatory, fill all such fields; otherwise,
you will not be allowed to save the data entered.
- Fill-in all the fields in Personal Information Form.
- Fill-in all the three choices of examination centres in order of priority using
drag-down menu. (An opted centre may be cancelled, if sufficient number of candidates
does not opt it.) For any candidate, if all the selected choices of Centres are
cancelled/not available, then NIT-WARANGAL Centre will be allotted to that candidate.
- Once “SUBMIT” is pressed, the online data cannot be altered.
- Candidate has to take hard-copy of electronically submitted online application form
by pressing “Print” button that appears after “submit” button is pressed.
- An Application Number will be generated that will be displayed on right top of the
Page-1 of the application form when you re-login after pressing the “Submit” button.
Please note the application number for all future references and correspondence.
- Applicants will be permitted to submit application through online up to 9th April,
2012 only.

The application form can also be submitted in the office of NIMCET-2012 at NIT,
Warangal by hand on all working days between 10.00 AM and 05.00 PM.
Scrutiny of Application form and Issuance of Admit Card:
- Hard copy (Print) of electronically submitted application along with demand draft
and other documents submitted to the office of NIMCET-2012, NIT, Warangal will only
be scrutinized.
- After scrutiny of applications, Admit Cards will be made available on the website,
nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in for all those applicants found eligible.
- Applicants will be required to download their Admit Card after login to this website.
- Admit Cards will not be sent separately
- The candidates shall have to produce the Admit Card at the Test Centre, counseling
centre and participating institute (PI) at the time of admission.
Declaration of Results and Issuance of Rank Card:
No separate RANK Card will be sent to the candidates. Ranks secured by candidates
in the NIMCET website nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in and also in participating institutes’
websites. Rank information will be sent through e-mail to the candidates’ mail-ids.

Test Pattern:
NIMCET‐2012 test for MCA will be conducted with only one question paper containing
120 multiple choice questions covering the following subjects

Each correctly answered question will carry FOUR marks and each wrongly answered
question will lead to NEGATIVE ONE mark. The candidates have to mark the responses
in the OMR sheets at the time of NIMCET MCA Exam 2012.
Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and black ball point pen. Calculators,
mobile phones or any other electronic gadget are not allowed in the examination
hall.

Candidates have to take Demand Draft for an appropriate amount relevant to their
category. Demand Draft must be drawn in favor of “NIMCET”,
payable at Nationalized Bank in Warangal or Hanamkonda. Candidates are advised to
go to any Nationalised bank located at their places and take DD payable at Service
Branch located in Warangal.
