English, commerce PG courses at Shri Shikshayatan
Shri Shikshayatan College On Monday opened its gates to English
and Commerce post-graduation students. The courses were inaugurated by Calcutta
University vice-chancellor Suranjan Das.
In his speech, the V-C stressed on the importance of initiating such courses as
it furthers the course of women’s higher education in the country.
Das congratulated the college for being a pride to Calcutta University because of
its consistent high standards of performance and its commendable NAAC accreditation.
In the last few years Calcutta University has affiliated several colleges to start
post-graduate courses. Shri Shikshayatan College is the first private college to
be given permission for postgraduate studies.
It is indeed a joyous moment to find Shri Shikshayatan College opening post-graduation
courses. However, I will urge them to take initiative and begin post-graduation
in science courses. The presence of women is less in science stream. We are aiming
at improving the gross enrollment ratio which can be done through such initiatives
only, said Das.
