Results of all non-agriculture colleges in the state would be declared on the basis
of a grade system, instead of the marks system.
Maharashtra Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday (16th
August) said the results of all non-agriculture colleges in the state would be declared
on the basis of a grade system, instead of the marks system.
Chavan, along with deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, took part in a meeting of vice
chancellors of non-agricultural universities of the state. The meeting was chaired
by state governor and chancellor of the universities, K Sankaranarayanan, at Yashwantrao
Chavan Academy of Development Administration (Yashada).
Speaking to media persons after the meet, Chavan said vice chancellors of all non-agricultural
universities arrived at a consensus about the new grading system.
"We discussed 27 issues pertaining to higher education. We have also taken stock
of the existing vacant posts of principals and professors in various colleges in
the state and decided to appoint only those candidates who have cleared national
eligibility test (NET) and state eligibility test (SET) as professors,'' he said.
During the meet, vice chancellor of University of Pune, Raghunath Shevgaonkar, gave
a presentation on computerisation and networking in the varsity.
Chavan said a meeting to discuss the three reports of committees appointed
by the state government for implementing student oriented decisions will be discussed
next week. Varsity heads in state say exam results will now be in grades.
