More proof in DU Medical Entrance Exam scam

Even as the Delhi Police continue to drag their feet on the matter, telling evidence has emerged about 35 fraud candidates who passed this year's Delhi University Medical Entrance Test with relative ease, after failing to qualify a similar exam held just two weeks earlier.

Sources claim that as per information received during initial investigation, at least 24 of the total 35 candidates under the scanner have been found to have failed this year's All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) as well.

"We have received anonymous score-sheets on which the scores of 24 candidates have been compiled, alongside their performance in both the Delhi University Medical Entrance Test (DUMET) as well as the AIPMT exams held within days of each other," said a senior police officer.

On July 11, Hindustan Times broke the story on the said scam in which - according to a written complaint received by the Crime Branch - eight candidates, who did abysmally in and consequently, could not even qualify, a similar medical entrance test conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGISPU) on May 7, passed the DUMET, conducted on May 22, with flying colours.

According to the data, the said 24 candidates were first unsuccessful in the medical entrance test conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University held on May 7 before the same candidates flunked the AIPMT exam held on May 15.

On May 22 however, the same candidates were successful in securing slightly more than 70% - the cut-off for securing admission in one of the three medical colleges under the central university, that is, the Lady Hardinge Medical College, the Maulana Azad Medical College and the University College of Medical Sciences.

"While 11 of the 35 candidates - all of whom have scored below average marks even in the main PCB subjects in their class 12 CBSE exams - did not appear for the AIPMT, 24 of them who did, were able to score only between 9% and 39% after securing only single digit marks in the GGSIPU preliminary entrance examination," the officer said.
