The three main branches of Metallurgical Engineering Course
are physical metallurgy, extractive metallurgy and mineral processing. Physical
metallurgy deals with problem solving i.e. development of metallic alloys needed
for different types of manufacturing and construction. Extractive metallurgy involves
extracting metal from ore. Mineral processing involves gathering mineral products
from the earth’s crust.

Eligibility Criteria:
For admission to a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed the
higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with subjects such as biology,
mathematics and chemistry. For IITs, It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance
Examinations (J.E.E).
The eligibility criteria for pursuing a master’s degree are holding a bachelor's
degree (B.E/B.Tech) in metallurgy or any other equivalent branches of engineering.
The duration for the course is 2 years.
