SMU-DE Launches MBA in Banking and Finance
Sikkim Manipal University Distance Education (SMU-DE),
has announced the launch of a new course that of MBA in Banking and Finance. The
course is aimed at graduates and engineers who would want to be at part with a fresh
MBA and who would typically join the banking sector as assistant mangers.
The degree will provide flexibility to upgrade skills cutting across space and time
by embracing technology. The course syllabus has been created by industry based
professionals and in-house faculty of the university taking cue from the market
demands of the banking industry at present. The banking sector is growing at a pace
of Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7% since the year 2000. Even with this
robust growth rate, the penetration of banking services stands at a measly 35% in
India, which is much lesser as compared to other countries. On the backdrop of such
low penetration levels, the Indian Banking sector has a significant potential for
growth.
With this 4-semester program, SMU-DE is geared to create trained professionals who
will stand up to the demand and meet the challenges going forward. This also aims
to create dedicated professionals with the relevant background, to serve the Indian
banking sector. With a faculty boasting of more than 15 years of industry experience
and industry experts for interaction on a weekly basis, the course focuses on all
aspects of banking and finance and has a high dependency on imbibing skill sets
with emphasis on statistical techniques, risk management procedures, communication
strategies and financial planning.
After successful completion of this course, candidates can start from the level
of Assistant Managers and moving up the corporate ladder they can also find ready
acceptance at the level of Audit Manager, Bank Manager, Economic Analyst, Economic
Manager, Bank Operations Head and so on. Adding on crucial work experience while
they learn opens up further opportunities not just in the country but in abroad
as well.
