The last date for admission to colleges in the state was June 30; but if a proposal
sent by the Department of Higher Education to the Governor of the state is accepted,
the last date could be extended to July 15.
Several colleges have reportedly not been able to fill up
all the vacancies even after the last date for admissions has passed. The worst
affected are the PG college. This is the reason behind the government’s decision
to extend the date.
Governor Rameshwar Thakur is expected to give his consent to the proposal
on Friday 8th July. The decision however is not expected to bring major relief to
the PG colleges as the examination for the sixth semester will only end by September
and the results will be out by December. Only after the results are announced will
the students be able to apply for admission to PG colleges.
