The centralised entrance examination (PGET-2011) for admission
to MBA, MCA, ME and M.Tech courses for 2011-12 will be held on August 6 and 7.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is conducting the examinations for the
first time. Till 2010, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) used to conduct
exams for the said courses.
This year, KEA received more number of applications. "For MBA, the number of applications
received has increased when compared to last year, as per the available statistics,"
said a KEA official.
The number of applications received for MBA is about 35,000; for MCA, it is 7,000;
for ME and M.Tech, it is about 15,000.
The examination is scheduled to be held at 50 centres at 12 districts across the
state.
However, KEA has not decided about the counselling session yet. "We are yet to decide
about the counselling. We have two options: One is to use all seven CET counselling
centres and the other is to conduct counselling at Bangalore centre alone," the
official said.
Admission tickets for eligible candidates have been dispatched. Those who have not
received the ticket can download the same from www.kea.kar.nic.in.
KEA is planning to declare the results after August 20. "The results will be expected
after August 20 and we will give prior intimation to candidates through SMS," the
official said.
