Job Offers in Indian Institutes of Management
from Every Company up by 30%.
It was bigger in every sense - pay package, number of offers and variety of roles.
At many Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), the 2011 placements were better
when compared to previous years.
For instance, at IIM-Kozhikode, the salaries offered
for domestic roles increased by an average of about 30%. The highest international
package of $1,50,000 was offered by a commodities trading company, while the highest
domestic compensation was offered by a Europe based investment bank.
The number of job offers in Indian Institutes of Management per company also increased
by 30% over the last year in this institute. Deloitte and ICICI Bank were the largest
recruiters at the institute, with each making 16 offers. The batch was 16% larger
than the previous one.
At IIM-Lucknow, the number of companies increased
from 121 to 206 over one year. Around 60% of students here had one to three years'
experience. Calling it a "watershed year for the institute" when "recruiters thronged
to hire in large numbers", IIM-Lucknow has stated that "there was a definite boost
in the salary packages over the previous years".
They had the highest number of offers (528) and largest number of companies ever.
There was a 60% increase in first-time recruiters and a marked increase in the number
of international offers, with new locations across Singapore, USA, Germany, UK,
West Asian and African nations.
At IIM-Calcutta, where 42 of the 388 students
were girls, the number of offers in slot zero, which is the most coveted slot for
both recruiter and student, was 200. The remaining was placed within five days.

Bangalore bagged as their placements ended last week.
Of the 348 PGP students, 332 students were placed, with over 90% of the batch receiving
one or more offer at the end of the third day. The other 16 had opted out of placements
to turn entrepreneurs. On the fifth day, all the placements were sealed. In all,
105 companies visited the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Campus, of which
35 were first-time recruiters; 461 offers were made, including 84 pre-placement
offers to students based on their summer internships. The number of PSUs was, however,
less than expected, IIM-B officials said. The batch was the biggest in the history
of the institute. "Apart from the number of offers made, this year's placement season
was noteworthy for the diversity of positions offered, some of which were unique.
