IIT Kharagpur Placement Statistics 2008:
IIT Kharagpur is supposed to have the best of the brains in the country. It offers
a number of degrees as part of its undergraduate program like B.Tech, Dual Degree,
M.Tech, M.Sc. etc. It is the ideal place for research opportunities. The Placement
provided by IIT Kharagpur is among the best. For the year 2008, IIT Kharagpur recorded
an overall placement of 82.09%. Placement of B.Tech and Dual Degree students recorded
an impressive figure of above 98%. A total of 160 companies have visited the IIT
Kharagpur campus for the placement drive.

IIT Kharagpur Placement Statistics 2009:
The placement season is always tough for the final year students of IIT, but usually
ends on a high note. But the placement season for the year 2009 was a very desperate
one because of worldwide recession. The total placements for the Day 1 of the placement
season saw a dip of almost 70%. Only 20 students were placed on the first day. The
placement season that started in December was stretched till June 2009. For the
year 2009, IIT Kharagpur recorded 68% overall placement. Students from B.Tech and
Dual Degree courses recorded the highest placement (Approx. 88%) among all courses.

IIT Kharagpur Placement Statistics 2010:
The year 2009 saw a major slowdown in the economy which affected the placements
at IIT Kharagpur also. But for the year 2010 the things were much brighter. Within
the first 2 months itself almost 50% of the students were placed. The pay package
offered also showed an average of 20% hike. The students had also shown interest
in new job profiles over the salary and perks they offer. The scenario was not as
good as the pre recession level but with the industry bouncing back the scenario
is going to brighten in future. The overall placement of IIT Kharagpur in 2010 was
79.23% which was much better that for the year 2009.
