IIT-K yet to get Grant for Solar Plant
Anand said that his team is yet to receive money from government
for initiating work on the one megawatt solar power plant which was to come up in
a village in Shivli.
"A sum of Rs. 50 crore which we were to receive for setting up a solar power plant
of one megawatt capacity has still not reached us despite the fact that the model
of this solar plant was unveiled by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year," said
Anand while adressing a press conference.
The roadmap of the project was sent to HRD ministry which had forwarded it to Planning
Commission but what happened there after is not known.
The project was handed over to the institute by the government. It was to be funded
by department of science and technology. The power generated by it would be used
by the IIT-K and its adjoining areas like Nankari.
"An amount of Rs. 2.05 crore is the cost which will be required in completing Indo-UK
Performance and Stability of Photovoltaic project. The work in the direction of
project has already begun," he said.
