The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi - IITD as it is known
is one of the 16 IITs setup in the country to provide higher technical education
to students in the country. IIT Delhi was established in collaboration with British
Government as The College of Engineering and Technology and registered as a society
on 14th June 1960. It was later declared as Institute of National Importance under
the "Institute of Technology (Amendment) Act", 1963 and renamed as Indian Institute
of Technology Delhi.

IIT Delhi offers undergraduates courses like B.Tech, Dual degree program (Bachelor
and Master of Technology) and integrated Master of Technology program. It also offers
various courses at post graduate level like M.Tech, M.S, M.S (Research), MBA, M.Des
(Industrial Design). Apart from the above mentioned courses it also offers Ph.D
program.
IIT Delhi has been ranked 218 in the QS World University Ranking in 2011, the highest
