The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi - IITD as it is known is one of the 16 IITs
setup in the country on the basis of the report prepared by N.M. Sircar Committee.
IIT Delhi was established and registered as a society on 14th June 1960 and named
as The College of Engineering and Technology. This was done in collaboration with
British Government. Later it was declared as Institute of National Importance under
the "Institute of Technology (Amendment) Act", 1963 and renamed as Indian Institute
of Delhi or IIT Delhi.
IIT Delhi offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 4 year B.Tech program,
5 year Dual degree program (Bachelor and Master of Technology) and integrated Master
of Technology program are some of the courses offered by IIT Delhi. M.Tech, M.S,
M.S (Research), MBA, M.Des (Industrial Design) are some of the postgraduate courses.
Apart from these courses it also offers Ph.D program.
