XAT is different than other Exams?
Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB)
is different from other management entrance exams like CAT, IIFT, and FMS etc. XAT is specifically designed to test your decision
making abilities and how well you handle pressure.
XAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus:
In order to crack XAT, you need to fully understand
the exam pattern and type of questions asked in XAT. XAT exam pattern can be given
as follows:
- The Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation questions are in one section. The
second section is English Usage (EU) and RC.
- The third section is Analytical Reasoning (AR) and Decision Making.
- XAT also have more questions than the CAT exam. In XAT it is more reasonable to
drop tough looking questions, and find the easier ones to solve. Thus, selection
of easier questions is very important, which are very well inserted between the
tougher questions.
Differential Marking Scheme:
XAT have differential marking scheme than other exams. There is no Negative marking
system.
Verbal & Logical Ability:
XAT mainly focuses on good language skills, thus one can find more questions on
vocabulary more often in XAT rather than other exams. If you want to crack XAT,
improving your Verbal and Logical ability is a must.
Reasoning:
The Reasoning questions are in the form of Para Jumbles, Fact Inference Judgment,
Inferences, and Arguments etc.
Decision Making Questions:
Decision Making involves a business scenario and you as a manager have to decide
the best course of action. Take correct a decision carefully before marking the
right option because it can take a lot of time, you can save this portion for the
later part of your test, but as always, there might be some easy question in this
section also, which one can score easily. For the Decision Making Ability questions
go through the test papers of previous years to understand what questions may appear
in this section.
Data Interpretation & Quantitative Ability:
This section divided into four parts, Basic Math, Higher Math, Data Interpretation
and Data Sufficiency. If you have prepared well for the other MBA entrance exams,
then you will be familiar with these topics. A good topic wise practice on
Quant and Data Interpretation will help you score well in this
section.
Essay Writing:
In this section candidate have to write an essay within 20 minutes. For this, you
need to read a lot & practice by choosing a topic and writing down your thoughts
on a paper.
You should start preparing yourself according to above mentioned
XAT Exam pattern and Syllabus. Remember - capitalize on your strengths,
