Delhi University has proposed a programme with a focus on
innovation. The curriculum has been developed and the modalities of admission and
faculty are being worked out.
There is talk of encouraging hands-on learning by installing various prototypes
on campus. "We are thinking of even putting up a nano car so that students can work
on it to understand its engineering and explore new ideas. Similarly, they can work
with mobile phones to learn their technology, "the official said.
If the course is cleared, it will flag off the "innovation cluster" being planned
by DU. Besides running this course, the cluster will create awareness on the importance
of innovation. DU wants the cluster to be mainly driven by young college teachers,
subject to approval from the executive council and academic council.
