GIM PGDM 2012 Exam - Overview:
Goa Institute of Management is one of the finest
Management Schools across country from past years. Most of B-School surveys have
given the Institute top marks in terms of Placement record, Education quality, Enabling
Infrastructure, Efforts at worldwide. Through the AICTE (All India Council of Technical
Education) the Indian Government has granted accreditation to
GIM and the programmes are in involved in it. This quality of education
is not compromised in any way.
Courses Offered:
- PGDM - Post Graduation Diploma in Management.
Eligibility:
- Minimum 50% aggregate marks, (45% in case of candidates belonging to the Reserved
category) in a three-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) recognized by the Association
of Indian Universities / AICTE.
- Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by 16th June 2012 may
also apply. If an applicant does not complete all the requirements of his degree
by 16th June 2012, or does not obtain 50% aggregate marks in his degree, the offer
of admission made to him will stand cancelled.
- The total number of seats is 240. The qualifying cutoff for each year is determined
on the basis of the scores of the applicants to the Institute, in the entrance test
in that year.
- For admission to the post graduate programme in business management 2012-2014, only
those candidates who register for the XLRI Admissions Test XAT 2012 of Xavier Labour
Relations Institute, Jamshedpur or CMAT 2012 of All India Council for Technical
Education may apply for admission to GIM.
How to Apply?
Application process for GIM PGDM admissions 2012
is as follows:
- Applicants to GIM are required to take the Xaviers Admission Test (XAT), which will be held on 8th January
2012.
- Apply online - Last date for online application is 31st December 2011.
- Candidates who have applied for admission to GIM will be shortlisted on the basis
of their XAT scores, past academic performance and work experience. The shortlisted
candidates will be called for face to face evaluation process for final selection
in Month February/ March 2012.
- The final selection will be made tentatively in Month of April 2012 on the basis
of XAT (50% weightage), the candidate’s past academic performance (10% weightage),
performance in face to face evaluation process (30% weightage) and work experience
(10% weightage).
- The academic session would begin in last week of June or first week of July 2012.
- The qualifying cut-off XAT / CMAT score will be lowered by 15 points for candidates
of Goan domicile/origin. Documentary evidence of domicile will have to be supplied
along with the completed Application Form.
- Candidates with proven & recognized talent in Sports and various arts, the selection
process will factor in these achievements in short listing the candidates.
- International/ NRI candidates will need valid GMAT scores.
Application fees are as follows:
- Registration Fees for Goa institute of management admissions is
1250/- for registration being done on or before 30th November, 2011
1650/- for registration being done after 30th November, 2011 *Registration fees
once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance

Top Exam Pattern
XAT usually
comprises 3 sections - with a time limit of 40 minutes for each of the sections.
One section is Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability questions. Another section
is Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Data Interpretation questions and the Third
section is General Awareness Questions.

An individual can start preparation for verbal ability section by purchasing Wren and Martin book. A good dictionary may also
help you in increasing vocabulary. Apart this, you should also read good intermediate
level books on various subjects like political science, science, economics, history
and others.
