GMAT Exam Overview:
GMAT or the Graduate Management Admission Test
was created by business schools to measure the skills necessary for a graduate student
to succeed in
Master of Business Administration (MBA) Courses. It is a computer-adaptive
standardised test in Maths and English to check your aptitude for business studies.
Studies show that this test is the best indicator for success in such programs,
and as a result about 4000 Programmes in 1800 graduate schools around the world
use this test for admission decisions. If you want to get into a Graduate Managerial
Program, you need to score well in GMAT.
The GMAT exam is sponsored, owned, and directed by
GMAC, a global nonprofit organization com posed of graduate business
schools located in the United States and around the world. Two independent testing
organizations assist
GMAC in the delivery of the GMAT Program. Pearson VUE, a business of
NCS Pearson, Inc., administers the GMAT exam and consults with GMAC about general
test administration policy. ACT, Inc. develops test material, provides certain scoring
services, and conducts research relating to the test.
Colleges you can apply for:
GMAT Exam scores are used by more than 4,000 graduate
management programs at almost 1,800 schools, many of which require GMAT scores from
each applicant.
Eligibility:
You must be at least 13 years old to register for and take the GMAT exam. If you
are between the ages of 13 and 18, you are required to send a written form signed
by your parent or legal guardian to GMAT Customer Service in your region before
taking the test. This form autho- rizes you to take the GMAT
exam and states that you and your parent or legal guardian agree to adhere
to all terms and conditions contained in this Bulletin, including, but not limited
to: those related to testing; score cancellations; privacy policies; and the collection,
processing, use, and transmission to the United States of your person- ally identifiable
data (including the digital pho- tograph, signature, fingerprint and/or palm vein
pattern, and audio/video recording collected at the test center); and disclosure
of such data to
GMAC, its service providers, any score recipi- ents you select, and others
as necessary to prevent unlawful activity or as required by law. Please contact
GMAT Customer Service to obtain a copy of the authorization form. The form must
be received by Pearson VUE at least three (3) days before your scheduled appointment
or the appointment will be canceled.
How to Apply?
The fee to take the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) is US$250.
On line: GMAT Customer Service in the United States
must receive this form at least three (3) weeks before your earliest requested test
date. Remember letters mailed from some countries can take up to eight (8) weeks
to reach the United States. Include proper payment with this form.
Schedule
Important Dates:
The GMAT takes place all round the year. It is administered from Monday to Friday,
twice a day.

The following table gives out the format of the GMAT-CAT:
Duration of the GMAT exam is approximately 3½
hours. The Graduate Management Admission Test
seeks to assess a candidate’s proficiency in 3 broad areas, namely-basic verbal,
qualitative or mathematical, and analytical writing skills.
