Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET):
GCET 2012 medical entrance exam (Goa common entrance
test) is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa
for the candidates seeking admission to first year degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry,
Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture in various colleges in Goa.

Eligibility:
For admission to Professional Degree courses included
in this prospectus, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:
- Nationality: Admission to professional courses
in State of Goa is open to Indian nationals fulfilling the eligibility criteria
under various categories. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also
apply for seats reserved under NRI category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) /Persons
of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are considered eligible for admissions to seats
under NRI Category. Foreign Nationals and Persons of Indian Origin holding non-Indian
passport must apply to Govt. of India.
- Age: An applicant to Degree courses in Medicine,
Dentistry and Homoeopathy must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st
December of the academic year of admission to become eligible for admission to First
Year. No age limit, minimum or maximum, is specified for admission to Pharmacy Courses.
- Qualifying Examination & Minimum Marks: An applicant
must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa
Board or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New
Delhi, or any other examination, which in scope and standard, is deemed to be equivalent
to the H.S.S.C. examination of Goa Board, and must have obtained the minimum percentage
of marks in the specific subjects, as prescribed for the admission to respective
professional courses, as under.
- First Year MBBS, BDS and BHMS: Applicant should
have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Goa Board
of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English
and secured not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics, Chemistry,
and Biology taken together. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC
only and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category for MBBS and BDS Course).

Important Dates of Goa Medical Entrance Exam 2012:
The GCET 2012 medical entrance exam shall be conducted
on Wednesday 09th and Thursday, 10th May, 2012 as per the following schedule,

Question paper shall be of objective, multiple-choice types containing 75 questions
of 1 mark each, with no negative marking. Goa common entrance test 2012 shall be
based on syllabus prescribed by Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education,
Porvorim for Std. XIIth examination of March, 2012 in the above subjects.
Reservation of seats:
- Total number of seats for MBBS-100 / BDS-40.
- For Goa students seats for MBBS/BDS: 85/34 seats reserved (Based on GCET 2012 score).
- For other states students seats for MBBS/BDS: 15/6 seats reserved (Based on GCET
2012 score).
- 50% - (SC/ST/OBC), 33% - (Women), 16.66% - (PH).
GCET Application Form:
This prospectus shall be available at notified places on payment of
400/- in cash (Extra
10/- service charge payable to designated branches of Syndicate/ Nationalized Bank).
Outstation candidates can obtain the GCET 2012 medical entrance exam prospectus
and application form by sending request to Director, Directorate of Technical Education,
Alto-Porvorim, and Goa - 403521 along with a DD of
400 /- payable in favour of "Director of Technical Education" at Panaji.
