A total of 17,000 students of schools in PCMC limits have benefited
For the third consecutive year, students from classes V to
X in the Pimpri Chinchwad township will continue to get free travel passes for PMPML
buses.
Speaking to TOI, Vishnu Jadhav, education officer, secondary education department
of PCMC, said, So far, a total of 17,000 students of schools in PCMC limits have
benefited from the scheme, which was introduced in 2009-10 for students of classes
V to XII. In academic year 2011-12, the PCMC will extend this benefits to students
of classes Std V to X. The secondary education department has made a budgetary provision
of Rs. 7.4 crore for the purpose. The proposal for the scheme this year will be
put forth for the approval of the standing committee on Tuesday.
