Time management Skill and Techniques you may require while writing an exam

Managing things efficiently within specific time frame without any mess is referred to as Time Management. Time Management is a determining factor for the success in exam. We all are aware of time management but still most of the students run out of time during exams because they don't plan well. Always keep in mind that time management is of utmost importance to pass the exam with flying colours.
Once you have your question paper in your hand, don’t start writing immediately.

Follow some time management techniques :

• Have a look at the instructions given at the top of the question paper. Do ensure any new changes have been incorporated.
• Note the number of questions to be answered & marks for each question in various sections. Allot time for each question based on distribution of marks. Decide the questions you want to go for and concentrate on them.
• It’s always preferable that you start the paper with the question that you are confident of. But keep in mind that you should not spend extra time on it. Usually, students spend most of the time on the first question & run out of time at the end. This affects the overall performance.
• You should be able to understand the way the question is raised in the exam paper. For example, you have to observe carefully whether the question is asked for description, differentiation, brief content, classification etc.
• Read the answers carefully once you are done with the entire paper. Many students read the answers just after writing them. Don’t do that. You should read the answers after the whole paper is completed.
• Don't be scared of the three hours exams; after the first one or two, you'll get used to it. The important thing is to find a consistent pace at which to write the paper.
• Keep your watch in front of you. This helps you to keep an eye on time while answering the questions. Many students keep their watch five minutes ahead but it can create problems as they always have to spend at least a few extra seconds to calculate the actual time.
