Direct Admission in Second Year Engineering after B.Sc
Students pursuing their B.Sc. can now directly get admission
to second year engineering. The decision has been taken by DTE (Directorate of Technical
Education) considering the vacant seats in engineering colleges. With this, B.Sc
students can now earn the coveted engineering degree. Dr. S. K. Mahajan, Director
of DTE informed this from Mumbai.
For direct admission to second year engineering, there were more than 30000 seats
last year. Even after admitting diploma students, 6000 seats remained vacant. On
this backdrop, the decision about B.Sc students has been taken.
So far, only first class diploma students were eligible for admission to second
year engineering. However, now diploma and B.Sc students with 50% marks can also
get admission to second year engineering.
On the other hand, in order to attract the students towards pure research,
Pune university's science department had decided to open the gates for diploma students
with direct admission to second year B.Sc University's physics and instrumentation
department head Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar informed that the proposal is being submitted
to the academic council and after the council's approval, admissions will start
from this year.
