In Maharashtra, 3,300 Educational Institutions Enjoy Linguistic and Religious Status
Colleges enjoying minority status have been warned to strictly
follow minority quota norms, or else face the music, said minority welfare minister
Areef Naseem Khan on Tuesday 28th June, at Mantralaya.
The minority welfare department has cracked the whip against errant colleges by
announcing that the list of unclaimed seats from the minority quota is put up to
avoid malpractice.
In Maharashtra, 3,300 educational institutions enjoy linguistic and religious status.
Junior and senior colleges run by these institutions are required to reserve 50
to 51% of seats for minority students. However, some institutions allegedly convert
the minority quota seats into management seats under the pretext of an absence in
demand.
