Know How SNAP, XAT and FMS is Differ from CAT Entrance Exam
CAT 2010 exam is over, now ready for CAT 2011 exam. It is time to face B-school
entrances exams. Hence, it is ease to understand the fundamental
differences between CAT, FMS, XAT and SNAP. Each exam has its own identity
and you should ideally have strategies to counter this uniqueness. For that, one
needs to have an overview of the entrance tests. Let us go through some differences
of entrance exams with respect to CAT-:
- 1) XAT:
Xavier's Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, XAT is among the rigorous
B-school entrance exams. Candidate should focus on verbal logic, progressive negative
marking, a few decision making liberties with unpredictable topics makes XAT entrance
exam a tough nut to crack. XAT 2011 exam was held on January 2, 2011.
- A) Verbal
Aptitude: The level of difficulty this section of XAT 2011 was huge and there
was an array of questions from RC’s, critical reasoning, FIJ’s, parajumbles. There
is negative marking.
- B) Quantitative
Aptitude & Data Interpretation: Candidate should not more focus on heavy
mathematics concepts and only go though basic formulas, calculations, data interpretation
caselets last year were very complicated.
- C) Logical
Reasoning & Decision Making: This section is like other B-school entrances.
At times, this portion can be tough and require more time and patience.
- 2) FMS:
Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi, and this exam will take 2 Hours. FMS
Exam is easier than CAT entrance exam, but a focus on high level of mathematics
and vocabulary.
- A) Verbal
Ability and Reading Comprehension: Most of this section can be successfully
by students who have a good ability to English language. The passage for reading
is ease but was quite lengthy.
- B) Logical
Reasoning: This section of FMS entrance examk easier than Logical reasoning
section of other MBA entrance exams. Candidate should focus on series, alpha-numeric
reasoning and logical reasoning.
- C) Quantitative
Ability: Students who are good with numbers and formulas can solve this section
without any problems.
- 3) SNAP:
SNAP entrance exam is a gateway to plethora of MBA programmes offered by Symbiosis
International University. It’s easier than CAT with the few differences being the
GK section, and a logical reasoning section which gives a higher weightage than
the other sections.
- A) General
Awareness: Resist having the lowest cut-offs across the paper, it is the
section which makes or breaks your chances of making it to well-earned Symbiosis.
This section eludes the best of the aspirants from the interview call. In which
questions are from various topics and comprises of plethora of topics like affairs,
sports, business, and so on.
- B) Quantitative
Aptitude: It’s simplest section than other section in the whole exam. Direct
application based questions are asked in this section of SNAP.
- C) Logical
Reasoning: Marks you score in this section form a major part of your total
score of SNAP. Some of the questions from critical reasoning, visual reasoning and
few from syllogisms.
- D) Verbal
Ability: This section is basically focused on vocabulary and on grammar.
The only thing was that last year they have taken a significant number of RC questions.
