Exchange will take place for final-year classes in the first term of an academic
year
Top ten colleges in the city have signed a memorandum of
understanding for exchanging students and teachers. This is a first-of-its-kind
initiative where a students and teachers' exchange programme will take place for
the top commerce colleges in the city.
This programme was ideated by the principal of KPB Hinduja College. This will let
his students attend lectures at NM College in Vile Parle or Khalsa College in Matunga.
The exchange will take place in the first term of the academic year for the final-year
classes.
The teachers will be able to choose a topic of their choice in a subject and teach
it in Hinduja College, and the same topic will be taught at the other college by
a teacher from the host college. For students, there will be a group of 10 students
who will be able to attend lectures in the designated college and vice versa.
According to T. A. Shiware, principal of the college, so far all the exchange programmes
have been between colleges outside the country or between various cities. But every
college in the city is a treasure trove of knowledge that can be shared.
"Every college has its own culture and a student should get a chance to experience
it. This kind of arrangement is convenient and also serves the purpose," he said.
He added that it will give teachers and students an opportunity to improve themselves
and understand the industry better.
There will be a specific programme for each college. For instance, Hinduja College
intends to share its BMS curriculum with NM College, BFM with HR College in Churchgate,
BBI with Khalsa College in Matunga, accounts with Podar College, etc.
