The process will be initiated for the students who will graduate in 2011-12
Devising a convenient way for students to get placed and
recruiters to source talent, Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (Cept)
University will for the first time host a centralized placement process for its
faculties this time. The university will launch a common placement website
which will highlight its student profiles.
Cept University has eleven different faculties which had, until now, held their
own placements. Headed by Cept director R. N. Vakil, the university is now structuring
a new process to place students of these different faculties in a common period
of time. The centralized placement will be a-month-and-a half long process and will
be a confluence of recruiters and students looking for job opportunities.
"The placements will be for all students graduating this year. The process will
be designed to be student-driven rather than market-driven. There will be a strong
focus on preferences and background of students rather than just annual packages,"
said faculty at CEPT Saswat Bandyopadhyay, one of the group of teachers working
on the common placement. While the process will be initiated for the students who
will graduate in 2011-12, Cept is coordinating the dates between different faculties
and a final date is yet to be fixed.
Early placements:
Faculty of planning at Cept University will host an early placement this year to
attract multinational companies for its 120 graduating students. While the placement
for the faculty used to be held in February in the past, it will be held in two
different slots this time. While the first slot of placement will be held from December
18 to 20, the second slot will be February 1 to 10 in 2012.
