Snag hits FYJC e-admission for few hours
Several students spent anxious moments on Tuesday 28th June
afternoon after they couldn't access the junior college admission website. Officials
from some of the guidance centres as well as schools contacted us and told us that
students were not able to access the website properly. We immediately alerted our
technicians and the problem was rectified in some time, said an official from the
office of the deputy director of education. He added that there have been fewer
complaints about the admission process this year.
Students had to wait for a long time at guidance centres to fill up their option
forms after the system blinked. One such student, Ruchi Dedhia, told TOI: An official
was helping us fill our forms when the system stopped working. I hadn't even finished
listing all my options for colleges when the snag occurred. It was scary.
Dedhia, who was at a guidance centre in south Mumbai, was later assured that she
can refill her option form.
The server was down for sometime in the afternoon and some student's forms
were not being accepted. However, it was nothing major at our school, principal
of Khars Kamla High School Rekha Shahani said. Pointing out that most students started
filling their online option forms only on Monday 27th June after they received their
original mark sheets, Shahani said: Many had come on Tuesday 28th June to fill the
form. Principal of Holy Family School in Andheri (E) Fr Francis Swamy said: Many
students came on Tuesday 28th June. This affected the server and our work for some
time. We have now asked our students to come in batches to avoid such issues and
delays.
CBSE Students yet to get Marksheets
Std X students of CBSE board are yet to receive their original mark sheets. With
admissions under various quotas already underway, parents are a worried lot. CBSE
students who appeared for the board exam can't apply to colleges because they don't
have their mark sheets. A principal of a CBSE school said, the pattern of results
has changed this year. Schools had to send formative assessment data which is based
on a student's performance in the classroom through the year. This might be holding
up the mark sheets. CBSE authorities, however, were unavailable for comment.
