Ahmedabad entrepreneur develops mobile CAT app
Now, IIM aspirants can prepare for CAT at their convenience
and that too, without spending a rupee. Ashish Chowdhary, a student of PGDBM in
Business Entrepreneurship at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India,
has co-developed the CAT app, a unique cell phone application that can be downloaded
for free. The app provides all CAT papers from 1994 to 2008 along with
the solutions. It also comes up with a scorecard based on your test performance.
Students simply have to send him an email at ashish@catapp.in
to avail of the CAT app.
Ashish, a B.E. in Information Technology from Dharmsinh Desai University in Nadiad,
says commuting between city and college every day left very little time for him
to prepare for CAT. Day scholars like me had to carry CAT test material too, to
the college along with the engineering books. Most of us travelled every day with
a backpack weighing 5 kg. Even today, students face the same problem. That is what
gave me the idea of developing a mobile phone app, said Ashish, who was employed
with Tata Consultancy Services, till he decided to start an enterprise of his own.
Steve Jobs Inspires me:
An ardent fan of late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, Ashish chose to release the app on October
14, the day the company released iPhone4S. So far, 500 students have registered
for the free app which runs on Java/Symbian platform. You don’t even need the internet
to use this app. A lot of them have sent me a feedback saying it is very convenient
because cell phone is a gadget that always stays with them. I want maximum students
to take benefit of the CAT app, said Ashish.
