Online submission of admission forms and confirmation of the same at the designated
application centers (ARCs).
The centralised admission process (CAP) for the first-year
hotel management and catering technology (HMCT) degree course in the state began
on Monday (8th August) with the online submission of admission forms and confirmation
of the same at the designated application centers (ARCs).
Director of technical education (DTE) S K Mahajan has issued a notification on August
6 drawing attention of all HMCT course aspirants to the revised eligibility criteria
for the course.
Candidates with minimum 45% marks in the higher secondary certificate (HSC, Std
XII) or an equivalent exam, with English as one of the subject, and who have appeared
in the MAH-HM-CET 2011 to secure a non-zero score, are eligible for admission to
the course, the notification stated. The minimum marks criteria for backward class
category students is 40%.
This follows the All India Council of Technical Education's recent decision to lower
the entry-level score from 50% to 45% for general category (45% to 40% for backward
class) students. It may be noted that the MAH-HM-CET 2011 was held on June 26 and
results of the same were declared on July 7.
Eligible candidates are required to update qualification details in the online application
form, take a printout of the same and confirm their admission form in person at
the designated ARC. They are required to submit one set of photocopies of the supporting
documents along with the admission form. The DTE will display a provisional merit
list on August 11 on its website: www.dte.org.in/hmct
A final merit list will be released on August 13 along with the provisional seat
distribution for the HMCT institutes participating in the CAP. Only those candidates
whose name appears in the final merit list are required to furnish the online option
forms for CAP round I, starting from August 16 to 18. The round I seat allotment
will be declared on August 20 and candidates will have to report to their allotted
institution between August 22 and 24.
A complete schedule of activities for the HMCT admission has been posted
on the DTE website. The new academic year 2011-12 for the course will commence from
August 29 while the cut-off for all types of admission under this course is September
20, the notification stated.
