New Year’s Resolution

New Year is the only holiday that celebrates the passage of time. Perhaps that's why, as the final seconds of the year tick away, we become introspective. Inevitably, that introspection turns to thoughts of self-improvement and the annual ritual of making New Year's Resolutions. The end of one year and the start of a new one is a great opportunity to re-assess our lives and to make new plans. As a new year approaches, it almost seems like we can start all over again. We can finally become that wonderful, productive, healthy, happy person we've always wanted to be. The trouble is, the enthusiasm to make changes, especially with exercise and diet, tends to fade once we realize we can't change everything overnight.

 New Year’s Resolution

To make lasting changes, there are three things we can do to make our resolutions work all year long:

  • Adjust our attitude.
  • Change our lifestyle.
  • Come up with a plan for success.

One must learn to keep your resolution, else it's gone with the winds. I am sure that you too in the past have made rash and hasty New Year resolutions like excelling in particular subjects or getting up early and learn the formula of Chemistry or only going out on Saturday evening if all pending tasks have been completed. But thee minute a friend calls you for a weekend party you cannot resist yourself. You return late and get up late resulting in dismantling your mindset and daily routine. So, you should realize that changing plans into actions is most essential.

A word of warning: New Year resolutions are "ten a penny" easy come, easy go.

You make New Year resolutions because it is easy to do so. Easy equates to good and achievable in your minds. Easy is actually a total waste of time except for a party game, and that is all most new year resolutions are good for.
Once you have decided on your New Year Resolutions, make sure that they stay at the front of your mind. Print a copy of your new year’s resolutions and stick them somewhere prominent, like a notice board or at the front of your diary. That way you can check your progress throughout the year and by the end of 2010, you should be ready to move on, set new objectives, and achieve even greater success.
